DefinitionsDefinition of social economy The field of social economy encompasses cooperatives and non-profit organizations which work is based on the following working principles: Social good The goal is to offer goods and services to organization members and or the community. Managerial autonomy Management is independent from the Government. Democracy The by-laws of the organization are governed by a democratic decision-making process, with the participation of all stakeholders. The person takes precedence Priority is given to people and work over capital in the distribution of surplus and income. Participation The guiding principles are participation, empowerment and personal/collective accountability. |
