Mission

CDEC Centre-Nord's mission (a community economic development corporation) is to develop and strengthen economic activity and employment in the Villeray, Saint-Michel and Parc-Extension borough, sustain socio-economical development of the residents and fight social exclusion.

CDEC Centre-Nord's mission is a part of the community economic development movement, which is defined by measures implemented locally to create economic opportunities and improve sustainable social conditions within the community overall. Special attention is given to individuals who are most economically distressed.

A community-based initiative managed by and for its members, the community economic development is based on a combined social and economic development approach, to promote the economical, social, ecological and cultural welfare to the communities.

CDEC Centre-Nord's mission is defined by:

  • Community-based management of economic and social development in the Villeray - Saint-Michel - Parc-Extension borough;
  • Revitalization of former industrial districts;
  • Fight against exclusion and poverty;
  • Establish sustainable economic and social development.

The Villeray - Saint-Michel - Parc-Extension borough is also known as Centre-Nord.
